Alex Thomas Wins ‘Protect the Abudhabi Dugong Competition’

NIMS Al Ain’s Alex Thomas bagged first prize in Protect the Abudhabi Dugong competition 2019 conducted by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD). The United Arab Emirates is running a series of programmes to protect dugongs from extinction and the EAD and Total United Arab Emirates are in its forefront.

Dugong, also known as the sea cow, is facing many life-threatening challenges. They are the only marine mammal that feed on herbs and plants only, especially seaweed. The human activities destroy seaweed, leading to their extension.

Congratulations to Alex Thomas and his mentor Mrs. Sayeda Hafiz for this great achievement!
